Question:
I have just bought a house and have rats running around my yard, I never leave garbages or anything around to entice them, I am afraid that they will come into my house. What can I do?
Answer:
They are there to eat something. They are crossing your yard to get to a food supply.
Rats and mice do not normally venture into open spaces, they prefer the security of running up against the side of walls or hedges. A food source will tempt them to take risks.
As a precaution you may consider setting rat traps in an appriate place in your basement, away from easy pet access.
Remember that a rat trap will easily crush and break a finger of kill a cat or dog.
Take lots of care they can be dagerous.
If the rats are abundant you really should call a professional. Particularly someone who won't use poisons that put everyone at risk.
